We had the pleasure of staying at this incredible hotel for six days, and it quickly became one of the best places we've ever stayed. Although we had a slight misunderstanding with our room at the beginning, it was resolved immediately by the exceptionally friendly staff. Their promptness and willingness to help made all the difference. The restaurant service here is on another level. They truly treated us like royalty, and we were especially impressed by Kula and the restaurant manager—these two are absolute stars of the hotel! Their warm hospitality and attention to detail made every meal an experience to remember. Speaking of meals, the breakfast was fantastic, so much so that we decided to have dinners there as well. Each evening offered something new, with a delightful mix of Greek and continental dishes that kept things interesting and delicious. The pool was another highlight—a true gem. It was spacious enough for swimming and lounging, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. Honestly, this hotel should be rated 5 stars, not just 3. The only minor issue we encountered was with the fresh towels. We had to request them from the reception each evening, which was a bit inconvenient. But honestly, this was just a small hiccup in an otherwise flawless stay. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a top-notch experience.

We stayed here for a week at the end of April. The hotel has been renovated tastefully - the lobby, restaurant, bar and the rooms look good. We had a sea facing room on the 3rd floor - the room was quite spacious and everything worked well. Especially liked the new digital controls (instead of switches) to control the light/airco etc. The beds were very comfortable as well. The staff are super helpful and friendly, always going the extra mile to help. The location is the USP of this hotel - it's right on the edge of the old town, so you get the convenience of being near the old town without the associated hustle and bustle. There's a huge parking lot right opposite, the hotel rents a few parking spots there. Overall, super convenient, considering how difficult it can be to get secure parking near the old town. Rethymno itself is beautiful town - we found it to have the right mix of old world charm and amneties. Plenty of good places to eat, and the beach is quite good - something that Heraklion or Chania misses out on. There're a couple water sports places as well (Ikarus is one), they do parasailing and other water sports for a reasonable fee.

We've just spent 3 nights staying at Hotel Ideon and were sad to leave. The photos do not lie - it's been recently refurbished and it's a stylistically modern and well designed hotel. I had slight concerns that it was only rated 3 stars and never having been to Greece, I did not know what the standards were but I did not need to worry in the slightest. I definitely felt that Hotel Ideon was giving 4 star vibes. The staff were all lovely and friendly, the bed was comfortable, the shower was powerful, a good breakfast was offered every morning and the location in the Old Town was perfect for us. I loved exploring the shops and restaurants in the Old Town and it's right on the harbour front so we had a fantastic sea view from our room and there were lovely restaurants all around us including across the road right next to the sea. The pool is also nice to have as an option for a dip after a hot day exploring the town. If you're looking for a good base to explore Rethymno I can highly recommend Hotel Ideon.

As a family of 4 (2 kids) we enjoyed both the accomodation and facilities offered, particularly the pool and bar/restaurant. Having breakfast in the morning took the hassle out of feeding the young ones, contributing to a more relaxed experience. The rooms inside are decorated to replicate traditional Cretan style, adding to the authentic experience. The quality of the food at the hotel restaurant is superb and reasonably priced. We were served by Stefania on three occasions, who was friendly and professional, contributing positively to our overall experience. Overall, all the staff were professional and accomodating, both those at reception and in the dining room. Finally, the hotel’s central location made an exploration of the old town’s attractions achievable with two children. We highly recommend Hotel Ideon and would stay here again in the future.

My room was very nice. However in the bathroom there was a high step upto the wash basin and toilet. That could have been dangerous at night going to the toilet as water came out from the shower near the step when I was having a shower. Also if the person staying in the room had mobility problems they could find that step very difficult. But the room was very nice with a balcony too. And all the fitting were new. The door to the bathroom didn't shut though but I was on my own so it didn't matter. The location is perfect for the hotel and the staff were really helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
